On Monday I attended an American Nuclear Society meeting.  The guest speaker was my company’s Federal Regulatory Affairs Analyst (essentially our lobbyist).  He was telling us about the perceptions of legislators regarding nuclear power and its role in the climate change debate and legislation.  Interestingly, when both Democrat and Republican legislators were polled (anonymously) regarding [...]

Palo Verde Nuclear Generation Site is located about 40 minuets outside of Phoenix, AZ.  It is the largest nuclear power site in the US with three units, and produces more power than the Hoover Dam!  I know what you are thinking, why would we build a nuclear power plant in the desert, where the fear [...]

There is a growing presence of supportive clean coal advertising taking place - I’m sure you’ve all seen a commercial or two. It’s good to see a growing presence of the opposing view. Clean coal isn’t here yet, don’t be tricked into thinking it is a solution right now.

Companies nowadays [...]

The real issue at hand is that since the industrial revolution when the world started producing power [...]

Did anyone see the anti clean coal television ad this weekend? The campaign is in response to the $15 million-plus ad campaign that began earlier this year by the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (an industry group). It is a fairly effective anti clean coal ad. The anti campaign is being funded by Al [...]

Yes, I’m pro-nuclear. But that doesn’t make me anti-everything else. I completely support nuclear as a means to replace carbon emitting base-load power supplies. Base-load power is the power that runs our homes, businesses, and hospitals on a day-to-day basis. It is energy that is consumed every day, not fluctuating due to people turning on [...]
